Barclays and Carnival renew their Travel Rewards credit card program


Carnival Corporation and UK bank Barclays have renewed their partnership, allowing customers to save for additional onboard statement credits and points for further discounts.

Cards are available for three of the Carnival Corporation brands, Carnival Cruise Line, Holland America Line and Princess Cruise Line. Barclays and Carnival have worked together for eighteen years, with a package that has proven extremely popular with guests sailing on Carnival Corporation ships.

Barclays Bank and Carnival Corporation extend their 18-year partnership

Barclays Bank, a UK-based bank, and Carnival Corporation, the world’s largest cruise line, have extended their partnership for another 18 years.

The credit card program offered by the airlines saves passengers a considerable amount of money on onboard purchases and visits and saves points that can be redeemed for onboard amenities.

Carnival Corporation and Barclays have worked together since 2004, with the bank being the official issuer of Carnival’s travel rewards credit cards in the United States.

Since their introduction in 2004, both companies have expanded the rewards and benefits that guests can enjoy using the Carnival World Mastercard, Holland America Line Rewards Visa Card and Princess Cruises Rewards Visa Card.

What are the benefits of using a cruise line credit card?

The benefits of using a credit card issued by the cruise line itself are worth considering. Customers can use the cards for reservations for everyone and on all Carnival ships World leaders in cruise lines. These include AIDA, Carnival Cruise Lines, Costa, Cunard, Holland America, Princess Cruises, P&O Cruises Australia, P&O Cruises UK and Seabourn.

There are slight differences in the benefits you get between the three issuing cruise lines. For example, the Carnival World Mastercard, for which there is no annual fee, offers customers 20,000 FunPoints after the first purchase or balance transfer. The Princess Cruises Card offers 10,000 points and the Holland America Card offers 5,000 points.

These points can then be used as an exchange for onboard account statements. Five thousand points translates to a $50 credit, which can also be redeemed up to six months after the cruise. Guests also receive a 10% discount on pre-cruise tours booked on Carnival’s website.

Barclays and Carnival are also maintaining a promotional 0% APR on all Carnival cruise bookings. This would mean that customers pay no fees for the first six months after booking by credit card.

In addition to these benefits, the Princess Cruises card offers its customers a concierge service; the Holland America Card allows customers to redeem points for airline tickets, with many other options offered.

Carnival Cruise Line is back at full capacity, with all ships operational again. With hundreds of dollars in first-cruise credits, the cards offered by Carnival and Barclays are definitely worth checking out.
