Seven people, including three women, were arrested by the Rohini District Cyber ​​Cell for allegedly deceiving several people under the guise of either helping them redeem credit card points or increasing the credit card limit. credit.

DCP (Rohini) Pranav Tayal said four defendants have been identified as Pulkit Malik (23), Rahul Verma (22), Avinash Kumar (37) and Jitender Sharma (28), who works as a designer of independent apps. He added that the three women used to make scam calls to their targets.

“A complaint was received of cheating under the guise of redeeming credit card points. The complainant stated that on May 13 he received a call and a woman assured him that she was calling from the credit card department from a bank. She sent a link on her WhatsApp number and asked to install the app,” Tayal said.

“The complainant installed the app using the link… After following the caller’s instructions, Rs 28,826 was deducted from his credit card. During the investigation, the call detail records and IMEI of the alleged number were analyzed by a team led by SHO Ajay Dalal and it was revealed that the alleged individuals are based in Mahavir Nagar,” it said. he declares.
“With the help of local intelligence services, a reconnaissance of the alleged suspect was carried out. On July 12, the police conducted a raid and the first accused, Pulkit, was arrested. He revealed that he was running a center calls from his home with the help of three women,” the DCP said.

During the interrogation, the defendants revealed that they would send the fake banking app link to their target and when they installed it, the defendants got access to the messages (OTP) on their phones. “At the instance of defendant Pulkit, Rahul and Avinash were also arrested. They provided defendants with SIM cards which were used to make calls to victims,” the DCP said.
